FAQ's & Consignment Policies

These are some of the common asked questions when consigning your machine with oil country powersports wholesale!

What is powersports consignment?

Consignment is when you leave your powersports machine (ATV, side by side, dirt bike, snowmobile, etc.) with Oil Country Powersports Wholesale to sell on your behalf: we handle marketing, buyer inquiries and the sale process, while you maintain ownership until it’s sold.

How does the consignment process work?

- Schedule the intake appointment, or submit a form on the Sell with Us page.
- Complete the consignment agreement and disclosure forms with a specialist.
- We inspect and detail your machine, take photos, and list it for sale!
- Buyers submit inquiries or offers.
- We handle negotiations and finalizing the sale!
- You receive your payout according to the agreed terms.

Should your 60day consignment term lapse without sale, you are welcome to pick up your machine inspected and detailed at no charge! All cataloging related fees on unsold consignment units are on us.

How long does it take to sell a unit?

Most units sell within 30–60 days, though it depends on machine type, condition, and market demand. Updates regarding your machine are available to you at any time upon request.

How is the sale price determined?

We work with you to set a competitive price based on market trends, machine condition, and comparable listings.

What fees does Oil Country Powersports Wholesale charge?

We charge $2250 or 15% of the sale price of your machine - whichever is more.

When your machine arrives, it undergoes a one-time detail that will be charged at a rate based on the machine type as listed below. This is charged when your machine sells, or when you choose to pick it up! There is an additional $150 diagnostic fee payable under the same terms.

Quad -$250
Side by Side - $500

Snowmobile - $250
Other - decided upon arrival and inspection

Do I have to be local or bring my machine to your shop?

We can help you sell right from your driveway! There is still an intake process that will happen, and both the buyer and seller will sign a waiver with full understanding that the unit is being sold as is - where is.

Do I still own my machine during consignment?

Yes. Ownership remains with you until the unit is sold and all sale documents are finalized. You may also request your unit back at any time according to the terms in your consignment agreement.

What if my unit needs repairs before selling?

We will perform or coordinate recommended repairs and maintenance - as diagnosed upon inspection when you bring the machine to us for consignment. This is to keep it easy and transparent for everyone involved - buyer and seller.

Do I need to provide keys and manuals?

Yes. For each consigned unit, we require all keys, remotes, and manuals. This ensures a smooth sale and avoids delays when transferring the vehicle to the buyer.

Is my machine advertised online?

Absolutely. We market your unit across multiple platforms, including different online marketplaces and social media. Photos, videos, and detailed descriptions help attract serious buyers quickly.

What protections do I have as a consignor?

We use clear consignment agreements, disclosure forms, and inspection reports to protect both you and the buyer. All offers, negotiations and sales are documented, and you approve price changes before they are implemented.

Can buyers finance a unit?

Yes. Through our Yes Drive financing program, buyers with all types of credit situations can be approved. We help facilitate financing to make your unit more appealing to an even larger audience of potential buyers!

Do I get updates during the consignment period?

Yes. We would be happy offer you any updates during consignment period, upon request. If something is pending or there is a sale, a specialist will be sure to let you know!

What happens if my unit doesn’t sell?

If your unit hasn’t sold within the agreed consignment period, you can choose to:

- Adjust the price
- Extend the consignment period
- Remove your unit from consignment

We provide market feedback to guide your decision.

How do I receive my payout?

We will send you your payout via EFT or check, within 48hours of the sale is finalizing and any liens or fees having been paid and processed.

Can I sell my unit myself during consignment?

Yes, but you must notify Oil Country Powersports Wholesale immediately. Any sale made independently may affect fees outlined in your consignment agreement.

Do you offer storage for units during consignment?

We provide safe on-site storage. Any fees, terms, and liability disclaimers are clearly outlined in the consignment agreement and storage authorization form.

What if a buyer is from another Province?

We handle out-of-province sales, if they happen, properly and carefully following all compliance. Buyers are advised about registration, taxes, permits and any necessary transportation requirements!

How do I know my personal information is safe?

We comply with all applicable privacy laws set out by the Province of Alberta and use your information strictly for consignment purposes.
